REVIEW: EDRA56 CONFERENCE
6/2/2025
We are excited to share highlights from EDRA56 – the 56th Annual Conference of the Environmental Design Research Association – held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, from May 27 to 30, 2025. The BUILD CARE project attracted considerable interest, with team members Birgit Moser and Anne-Sophie Schoss presenting their research and insights to an international audience.
Birgit Moser chaired the session "Child-Centered Healthcare Design: Creating Healing Environments" and delivered a compelling presentation titled "Space Agents: A Participatory, Art-Based Conversation Game to Explore the Spatial and Emotional Landscapes of Stroke-Affected Children." Additionally, she contributed to the symposium "Accessible, Equitable, and Just Environments for Children and Youth" with her talk "Emotionally Supportive Architecture: The Role of the Built Environment in Emotion Regulation of Children Affected by Childhood Stroke."
Anne-Sophie Schoss presented her poster "Spatial Insights into Pediatric Neurorehabilitation Centers in Germany" and delivered a talk in the session "Child-Centered Design: Participatory Approaches and Applications" titled "Exploring Care Environments for Children with Stroke: Pediatric Neurorehabilitation Centers in Germany."
EDRA56 proved to be an inspiring forum for interdisciplinary exchange, sparking new ideas and deepening international collaboration. The experience reinforced the importance of designing environments that truly support children’s health and well-being.
